A Journey - Take the trek

An ocean- Take a swim in it

A warm blanket- Wrap it a round you

A present- Open it

A candle - Light it

A mystery- Discover it

About great food- Enjoy every new taste you can

Can be lonely- Meet new friends

Full of surprises- Expect the unexpected

Love- Embrace it

Full of disappointment- Get over it

A warm summer day- Bask in it

Full of mistakes- Learn from them and move on

A song- Sing it

About respect- Honor it

NASCAR Talk! / Time Will Tell
« on: December 25, 2013, 05:29:05 PM »
If NASCAR can turn the tides back in their favor. They have done a LOT of things to drive their core fans away from the sport in the last handful of years. They really have to go back to the drawing board and rethink the business model they want to follow. They have to see all of those empty seats and blank TV screens to realize they have major issues to deal with if they are move forward. The B.O.D. at NASCAR should really consider canning Brian France if the want to clean up the mess he helped create. This boy blunder has helped destroy what it took his grandfather  many years to create. Just because he shares the same last name, does not mean he he has the same vision as Bill France did when he created NASCAR. IMO but he lives in a tota fantasy world because he does not see what the average fan sees. And the fans are showing their displeasure by not attending races. I wonder when the networks will get wise and want more bang for their buck and demand changes ? I can't think of a business on the planet that can survive operating like NASCAR does today. Time will tell if they wake up and smell the coffee...

I have a few days off after a LONG week and a half on the road. I caught up with a lot of things around the house and decided to take one of my toys out to play. It was to snowy for one of my dirt bikes so I took my ATV out for some fun in the snow.. I did shorten the video because I rode for about an hour and it would have taken forever to upload.... 8)

I was really glad to see Ryan pull this one off. I thought it was gonna be a complete domination by the # 48 team by the amount of laps led by them.  All in all I thought this race was a snooze fest. The seats were pretty well empty and the racing wasn't anything to speak of.

Off-Topic Lounge / A real tough decision..
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:21:05 PM »
As most of you guys all know I am rail road employee....FYI...I entered service in December of 1991  as a Car Inspector. Over the last nearly 21 years my duties included inspecting and repairing rail equipment. It has also included a high level position in the Quality Assurance Department where I have been responsible for creating procedures and enforcing compliance to federal and rail way standards. I am also responsible for the Supplier Quality program to ensure suppliers are held accountable to supply rail products that meet the required quality and contractual standards. Additionally I have an active role in derailment and equipment failure investigations. With that being said, here is the hardest decision I have had to make in a long time....

Recently I had the opportunity to interview with the Federal Railroad Administration for a position as an inspector for railway equipment... This position ensures compliance to all federal codes for railway equipment compliance. It also includes a lot of derailment and accident investigations.   I knew coming into this interview I would have some hard choices to make if I were selected for this position... One of them the possibility of relocating....  The other separating service from the rail road... After that interview I was told it would take two to three months for the results.... Surprise surprise three days later I was offered a job.. I wrestled for the last few weeks to make my decision.. After learning that I can keep my ties to the RR for one year before separating I made the choice.... I'm now going to the FRA as a fedral inspector......And if I really don't like after it one year  I can come back to my RR... I'm nervous but happy...

Off-Topic Lounge / Going Green
« on: May 19, 2012, 08:28:54 AM »
We just had solar panels installed on our house this week..... We had 41 installed with a program from NJ Natural Gas...  What the deal is that they install and maintain the system... We signed a 20 year lease for a certain amount of power usage.. They averaged a years worth of usage and came up with the amount were allowed to use... They cut my electric bill by 60% and fixed the rate we will pay monthly for the next 20 years... The extra power we generate will go into the grid...  If we use more then the agreed amount we will pay for that usage... If we use less then we generate then we will have usage credits for the months we may go over should it happen... A real good friend of mine did this a year ago this coming August and told me about it.. I contacted the company and got the process rolling... A lot of people including myself asked why they would do such a deal like this ?? The answer was pretty simple actually... The Gas company is facing major tax levies in the years to come because they are a fossil fuel source... To off set this they set up a solar program... They will get major tax credits and SRECS for the power they help generate... The deal is they keep all the SRECS and sell any unused kilowatts back to the electric company.... They will make a LOT of money over the years... That was the trade off for me not paying for the installation and maintenance of this system... They must maintain it because it has to generate a certain amount of power for them to generate the SRECS they collect... One of my coworkers and his wife took another track at solar power.... New Jersey used to have a program in place that had rebates and tax credits for home owners who wanted solar.. They took a loan out and had it installed... Between the savings on their electric bill, the rebates and the SRECS they collected they paid for their system in about three years... The drawbacks are that they must maintain the system themselves and they SRECS generate today are not the amount they were a few years ago...  But either way they are in great shape because their usage is way below what they generate.. A thing we both are going to do is install electric water heaters.... Mine is heated by oil and his is gas, this will help us lower our energy costs from fossil fuel...Any way you slice it I think solar is really the way to go if you can get it done..  Anyone else have solar ??

NASCAR Talk! / Engine Troubles
« on: April 22, 2012, 06:08:08 PM »
I wonder how many of these engine failures are attributed to the fuel injection system they are running today ? It seems that there are a lot engine failures every week.. And I also wonder if the fall off in track performance can be linked to fuel injection ?

Crashed Him Back.............. I just finished reading that book.... It really is a good book about the famous fight at Daytona and a lot of stories about a lot of players including Dale Sr., DW, Petty, Cale and the Allisons...I down loaded it on my Nook so I could read it on the way to work.. This is a real cool look at a lot of stuff that happened .... I knew about a bunch of things, but this was this shit the media really never talked about... Well worth the read .........

NASCAR Talk! / JJ and Kurt Busch.......

I know there is real bad blood between these guys.... That can be the only reason in my mind as to why they got into a pissing match after Pocono..  It looked like JJ moved down on Busch from what I saw... I wonder if they will tangle @ The Glen ?? From the comments I read online I'd bet they will find each other some time during the day... :o

Has anyone watched this trial ??? I just saw the closing arguments a few hours ago.. I'm normally not one to immerse my self in things like this but it was like a bad accident that I just had to stop and look at..  Not sure what the verdict will be, but it will be interesting to see .............

I was totally shocked and saddened to learn that Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band died on Saturday... He was IMO one of the greatest sax players that Rock-n-Roll has ever seen.... Growing up in New Jersey and listening to that band was what we did.... I have seen them in concert a number of times..... One of my favorite concerts was at Giants Stadium where were on the field and could see the band as clear as day...  That guy and the band put on a show for the fans that always made the fans walk away knowing they got their moneys worth.....Years back in Red Bank NJ he had a little joint that we used to go to and watch all kinds of bands.. We also saw him and the band jam at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ a lot of times in the last 30 years.... I'm still pretty shocked that this happened.....

RIP Clarence..... Our hearts and prayers are with you....
